Can you feel that crisp, coastal air starting to warm up? Believe it or not, June is just a few short days away, and we are preparing for a month packed with events. It’s a great way to kick off our summer here in Tillamook County! Dust off your sunglasses and grab your calendars, because downtown Tillamook is about to come alive with community spirit.
Saturday, June 13th: The Farmers Market Kicks Off
Nothing says summer quite like the return of the Tillamook Farmers Market. Starting Saturday, June 13th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2nd and Laurel will be filled with the vibrant colors of fresh, locally grown produce, gorgeous fresh-cut flowers, and unique handmade crafts from community artisans.
Come hungry! You can grab a pastry, listen to some incredible live music from local musicians, and stock up on local, fresh produce! There will also be garden starts for your own backyard garden. It’s the perfect place to catch up with neighbors and celebrate the abundance of our beautiful county.
Saturday, June 20th: Treats & Sweets Downtown
The following weekend is planned for sweet family fun. On Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the annual Treats & Sweets event is taking over downtown Tillamook for an afternoon of fun!
This year features a fantastic lineup of activities, including up close looks at big trucks and emergency vehicles that the kids will love, alongside a festive family photo booth to capture the day’s memories. Even better, every child will receive $5 in Kids Bucks to spend like real cash at participating local shops! We owe a huge shoutout to TLC, a Division of Fibre Federal Credit Union, and Grocery Outlet for sponsoring this wonderful event and keeping it a free event for our local families. Be sure to start your adventure at the Chamber HQ, 208 Main Ave., for your first sweet treat and your passport!
Saturday, June 27th: The 69th Annual June Dairy Parade
We are capping off this incredible month with the crown jewel of our community traditions: the 69th Annual June Dairy Parade! For nearly seven decades, this parade has been the ultimate celebration of Tillamook’s rich heritage, and this year promises to be an absolute blast.
In honor of the historic 250th Birthday of America, this year’s parade theme is “Stars, Stripes, and Dairy Delights!” Expect a spectacular, patriotic showcase of marching bands, elaborate community floats, vintage tractors, the iconic Dairy Royalty and so much more! Highlighting the deep roots of our hard-working farming families, it’s a high energy, community wide event that draws folks from all over the region. Find your spot on the sidewalk early, bring a lawn chair, and get ready to cheer!
With this year’s patriotic theme, our streets will be filled with beautiful red, white, and blue displays. As the official color guard passes by carrying the American flag, it is proper etiquette for spectators to stand, remove any hats, and place their right hand over their heart until the flag has passed. Additionally, if you or your little ones are enjoying small hand held flags during the festivities, please be sure to hold onto them securely so they stay off the ground and out of the street. Let’s keep our celebration beautiful and respectful for everyone!
June is bursting at the seams with community spirit, good food, and unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see you out there! Happy Summer Kickoff, Tillamook County!
