SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita\, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!\n\n\n\nThese work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.\n\nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Trail Building on September Stewardship Fridays! These work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. \nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail. \nTools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.

SUMMARY:Netarts Bay Salt Marsh Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of Netarts Bay – Watershed\, Estuary\, Beach\, and Sea (WEBS) on August 5th for a FREE event including a presentation and guided tour along the salt marsh at the southern end of Netarts Bay.  \nWhile exploring in this unique habitat\, participants can learn about the plants and animals\, and the importance of this environment from the forest to the water’s edge. Discover how plants survive in a salty world and explore vegetation succession from the bay to the dunes. \nThis program includes two parts: Starting with an indoor presentation at 9:00 a.m.\, we will review salt marsh habitats and give an overview of the common plants found in these areas and how they are adapted to survive in these salty locations. After the presentation\, participants will drive to the first location for the start of a walking tour with biologist and past WEBS board member\, Jim Young. This field-based walking tour includes an easy to moderate 1.5 to 3-mile hike through muddy\, wet sand\, and loose sand areas. Trails may be covered by brush. This program is best suited for participants 12 years and older who are comfortable walking in these environments. \nHOW TO PREPARE/WHAT TO BRING TO THE WALK \n\nParticipants will need to provide their own transportation between locations\nBring or expect to purchase a OR State Parks parking pass ($10)\nLong pants and closed-toe shoes or boots (no flip-flops) — expect muddy conditions\nWeather-appropriate clothing (prepare for variable coastal weather)\nInsect repellent or protective clothing – mosquitoes may be present (WEBS will have a limited supply of mosquito nets available)\n\nWe understand everyone learns and experiences the outdoors differently\, and we strive to support everyone who is interested in attending our events! Please contact us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate your accessibility needs. \nThis event is part of the Explore Nature series of hikes\, walks\, paddles\, and outdoor adventures. Explore Nature events are hosted by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations\, and are meaningful nature-based experiences that highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy. \nConsider donating:   \nYour donation helps support the work of our organizations. Every little bit helps!  All of our workshops\, classes\, and events are free.
