SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita\, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!\n\n\n\nThese work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.\n\nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

SUMMARY:Explore Netarts Bay
DESCRIPTION:EXPLORE NETARTS BAY \nJoin the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS July 17th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to explore the diverse plants and animals that call Netarts Bay home with guest scientists Dr. Allie Tissot\, Kim Brown\, and Katalin Plummer. In addition to their ecological expertise\, our program leaders also speak Spanish\, so we are excited to offer this exploration as a bilingual program! \nIf you’ve enjoyed WEBS’ Tidepool Tours\, you won’t want to miss this. While we’ll be exploring the mudflats of the bay instead of the tidepools\, this program will feature a similar blend of expert-led learning and space to follow your own curiosity. We’re excited to nerd out with you! \nNOTE: Please arrive 15 minutes early to find parking and check in! \nRegistration is required for this free event. Learn more and register at: https://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events  \nThis popular event fills up quickly! If the event is full\, please add your name to the waitlist so we can reach out if spots become available.  \nWhat to bring: Be sure to wear shoes that are securely attached to your feet\, flip flops will not be allowed. We recommend tall\, waterproof boots. The climate can change quickly along the coast\, ranging from warm to cool and breezy\, so please bring the gear you need to stay comfortable. \nDifficulty: Moderate due to the challenges of walking over rocks to reach the bay\, and walking on soft\, wet sand throughout the program. If bad weather develops\, an alternate plan will be communicated to the registered participants. \nParking: There is a small parking lot at our meeting location\, as well as pull-offs along Netarts Bay Road for additional parking.  \nConnect with the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS online!

SUMMARY:Tide Pool Discovery Days
DESCRIPTION:Contact: info@netartsbaywebs.org\n \nFRIENDS OF NETARTS BAY – WEBS\, HOSTS THREE TIDEPOOL DISCOVERY DAYS IN THE MONTH OF JUNE \nJoin us on the beach for some great low tides this June\, perfect for exploring and discovering the amazing creatures lurking at the water’s edge.  Choose one day – or all three – on the beautiful beaches in Oceanside. \nThis is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community\, friends\, and family as you enjoy the beauty of Oceanside’s amazing tidepools.  We hope to see you on the beach June 16th\, 17th\, and 18th. \nFriends of Netarts Bay WEBS staff\, Oregon State Park Rangers\, and volunteers will be on-site in the tidepools to share about the habitats along the coastal edge. Learn about the anemone clone wars\, how a sea star eats\, or how hermit crabs find their shelled homes. From seaweeds to sculpin fish\, there is an amazing world to discover!  \nDetails: Wear boots or bring a change of shoes.  DO NOT WEAR flip-flops (they are never ideal for exploring tide pools).  Be prepared for Oregon Coast weather. \nThis program involves walking on slippery and uneven surfaces\, including rocks that may be covered in water\, seaweed\, and barnacles. We understand everyone learns and experiences the outdoors differently\, and we strive to support everyone who is interested in attending our events! Please contact us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate your accessibility needs. \nRegistration is required. Learn more and register at: \nhttps://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events \nConnect with the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS online!  \nWebsite: www.netartsbaywebs.org \nSocial: @netartsbaywebs \nConsider donating:   \nYour donation helps support the work of our organization. Every little bit helps!  All of our workshops\, classes\, and events are free. As a non-profit organization\, we rely on donations and grants to keep us going and growing.   \nIf you like to donate\, you can donate on our website.  \nWEBS and partners are hosting this event as part of the Explore Nature series of hikes\, walks\, paddles\, and outdoor adventures. Led by a consortium of volunteer community and non-profit organizations\, these meaningful nature-based experiences highlight the unique beauty of Tillamook County and the work being done to preserve and conserve the area’s natural resources and natural resource-based economy. SUMMARY:Hike Bayocean Spit: Explore the Dynamic Coast and a Town Lost to the Sea
DESCRIPTION:Step back in time and uncover the fascinating story of our coastline during a guided exploration of Bayocean Spit. Discover the remains of a once-thriving community now hidden beneath the salal and sand\, and learn how nature and human actions shaped its remarkable history. \nJoin Clair Thomas of the Garibaldi Cultural Heritage Initiative and Friends of Netarts Bay – WEBS Saturday\, June 13th for an engaging walk through one of the Oregon Coast’s most unique landscapes. Along the way\, Clair will share captivating stories about the people who once called Bayocean home and explain how powerful natural forces\, combined with human-made changes to the spit\, led to the town’s decline. \nThis easy-to-moderate hike takes participants along the bay\, across scenic dunes\, and down the ocean beach at the meeting place of Tillamook Bay and the Pacific Ocean. As you explore this dynamic coastal environment\, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for both the ecological richness and the human history of this extraordinary sand spit. \nWhether you’re a history enthusiast\, nature lover\, this walk offers a unique opportunity to experience the past while enjoying this beautiful area. \nRegistration is required for this free event. Learn more at:https://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events  \nThis popular event fills up quickly! If the event is full\, please add your name to the waitlist so we can reach out if spots become available.  \nWhat to bring: Comfortable walking shoes\, water\, and snacks are a must! Binoculars are highly encouraged. The climate can change quickly along the coast\, ranging from warm to cool and breezy\, so please bring the gear you need to stay comfortable. \nDifficulty: Easy to moderate due to the challenges of walking on the soft and wet sand. Participants should be prepared to walk 3 miles over flat gravel\, dry and wet sand\, and up/down trails over sand dunes. We will make multiple stops to discuss the ecology and history of the area. Participants are welcome to join for all or part of the hike. \nIf bad weather develops\, an alternate plan will be communicated to the registered participants. \nParking: This is a Tillamook County Park-managed parking area. Please be sure to bring your annual pass and/or credit card (cash is not accepted) to pay the $10 parking fee. \nConnect with the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS online!  \nWebsite: www.netartsbaywebs.org \nFacebook and Instagram: @netartsbaywebs
