SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita\, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!\n\n\n\nThese work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.\n\nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

SUMMARY:Phytoplankton Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS and experts from the ODFW phytoplankton team on Sunday\, April 12th\, at 8:00 a.m. as we explore the phytoplankton in Netarts Bay and beyond!  \nPhytoplankton are microscopic organisms that live in the water column and convert sunlight to energy through photosynthesis. As the base of the marine food web and producers of 50% of the Earth’s oxygen\, these little guys are critically important! Some species\, however\, also produce toxins that are harmful for marine life\, humans\, and pets.  \nDuring this two part event\, we will dive into the benefits and dangers of phytoplankton. We will begin by collecting water samples in the field\, and then head back to the Netarts Community Club to continue the conversation with a short “Phytoplankton 101” presentation. We will also have microscopes to take a closer look at our water samples\, as well as stations for creating art and playing games to help us understand the roles of phytoplankton in the ecosystem. This event will combine research findings and expert insights with activities that are fun for the whole family! \nRegistration is required! Please visit https://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events to learn more and reserve your spot. \nQuestions or Cancellations? Contact info@netartsbaywebs.org  \nConnect with the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS online!  \nWebsite: www.netartsbaywebs.org  \nSocial Media: @netartsbaywebs  \nEmail: info@netartsbaywebs.org

SUMMARY:Tillamook High Campus Out of the Darkness Walk
DESCRIPTION:Tillamook Family Counseling Center and Tillamook County Suicide Prevention Coalition have partnered with a THS Senior to bring a Campus Out of the Darkness Walk to Tillamook High and the wider community as their senior project.\n\nThis is a wonderful event that supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and their efforts to #stopsuicide. The best part\, 50% of the proceeds will help fund future suicide prevention programming in our area. Yet there is no pressure to fundraise. You can register and choose to participate in the walk without having to raise any money. Yet we highly encourage you to try and raise at least $100 because that earns you a walk t-shirt that you can pick up at the walk!\n\nWant to fundraise? Great! You can do so individually or you can also form a team and fundraise with others from your work\, organization\, family\, club\, etc. You just need someone to register as your team captain then the rest of your team registers under them.\n\nAll ages are welcome to register\, we just ask that everyone register so we have an accurate count for our walk with AFSP. No pets allowed at the walk as it is on school grounds.\n\nYou can register here: https://afspwalks.donordrive.com/tillamookhigh\n\nWe will kick off our event at 9:30am with registration/t-shirt pick up\, a resource fair\, and other programming. The opening ceremonies will be at 10am and the event should be done by 12pm. This event will happen rain or shine. The resource fair and other events will be inside the Auxiliary Gym and the walk will take place on the track. Please dress for the weather. You can walk as long or as far as you like in the time frame of the walk. There is no minimum distance required as we want the walk to be accessible.\n\nIf you have any questions\, please email Walk Chair Amanda Ferrat at tcscpinfo@gmail.com or call/text her at (503) 812-7444.

SUMMARY:Three Capes Marathon Relay
DESCRIPTION:The Three Capes Marathon Relay is a 26.2 mile course traveling the Three Capes Scenic Loop\, starting at Cape Meares Lake\, passing Cape Lookout\, and ending at Web County Park in Pacific City. \nThe rugged course\, with plenty of hills\, passes through or runs adjacent to six state parks\, two National Wildlife Refuges\, multiple Tillamook County Parks\, and boasts stunning vantage points of the Tillamook Bay\, Netarts Bay\, and the Pacific Ocean. Local spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer participants along\, but: “Caution: runners on the road!” \nThe course is separated into five legs which vary in distances from 4.37 miles to just under seven miles. Team categories include: family\, business\, school\, or Clydesdale. Starting and ending at sea level\, there is a significant elevation climb within the course\, offering a challenging racing venue. \nCost for registration is $339 for a five-person team\, $165 for a two-person team\, and the solo marathoner is $95. Every participant will receive a custom Three Capes Relay Medal when crossing the finish line. Register online at threecapesrelay.com or register at packet pick-up the night before the event.
