DESCRIPTION:Cannon Beach Chorus’s 2025 spring concert celebrates its 37th year of performing fine choral music.   The “Dancing Through Life” concert will be held at St Johns Church of Christ at 602 Laurel Avenue. \nThe program will include Dancing Through Life (from “Wicked”)\, Both Sides Now\, When I Am 64\, and many more family-friendly musical favorites. Several pieces feature chorus members as soloists.  Roy Sieber directs and Carson Schulte provides piano accompaniment. The chorus’s singers hail from Astoria to Oceanside. \nAn intermission with light refreshments will be offered. Donation tickets are sold at the door:  $15 adults\, children under 16 free.

DESCRIPTION:Touring music of the masters as well as new works from visionary composers of our time\, the Fry Street Quartet has perfected a “blend of technical precision and scorching spontaneity” (The Strad). Since winning the Grand Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition\, the quartet has reached audiences from Carnegie Hall to London\, and Sarajevo to Jerusalem\, exploring the medium of the string quartet and its life-affirming potential with “profound understanding…depth of expression\, and stunning technical astuteness” (Deseret Morning News).The FSQ’s tour repertoire reaches many corners of the musical spectrum\, including works of Britten\, Schubert\, Beethoven and Bartok alongside contempo rary works. The complete quartets of Béla Bartók have been prominent in the quartet’s repertoire. The Fry Street Quartet is privileged to perform on a set of rare Italian instruments on loan from a private foundation. The instruments of the quartet include violins by J.B. Guadagnini and Pietro Giacomo Rogeri\, a viola by Giovanni Battista Rogeri\, and a cello by Andrea Guarneri. \nThe Fry Street Quartet holds the Dan C. and Manon Caine Russell Endowed String Quartet Residency at the Caine College of the Arts at Utah State University and has recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary season at USU. ​

The underlying message that “variety is the \nspice of life” will be demonstrated through a wide range of musical themes. \nThe narrator will be Deac Guidi\, a local professional opera singer who has \nperformed with NOCS and throughout the northwest region. \nAnother feature in the program will be Robert Smith’s Symphony No. 2\, “The \nOdyssey.” Inspired by the ancient Greek poet Homer’s epic tale\, this work \ntakes the audience on a dazzling musical voyage. \nMorton Gould’s rousing American Salute will round out this concert series. \nThe first concert will take place on Saturday\, March 15\, at the Nehalem \nElementary School Gym (36300 8th St.\, Nehalem\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nThe second concert will be on Sunday\, March 16\, at the Bob Chisholm \nCommunity Center (1225 Avenue A\, Seaside\, OR) beginning at 3:00 pm. \nAdmission for both concerts will be $10.
