SUMMARY:Trail Building in Nehalem Bay With LNCT!
DESCRIPTION:Every Friday\, volunteers gather on LNCT lands near Manzanita\, Nehalem and Wheeler to protect and restore habitat in the lower Nehalem watershed. We would love to see new faces out on the land!\n\n\n\nThese work parties are beginner friendly and an opportunity to learn about the engineering of hiking trails. We will be working on uneven ground\, bending\, and moving small rocks and brush during this process. Tools and gloves are provided\, new volunteers welcome and no prior experience needed. Join as frequently as you please.  Email shane@nehalemtrust.org for weekly updates on where to meet.\n\nAlder Creek Farm and Natural Area’s Nehalem Teaching Trail already supports an impressive variety of native plants and simulated ecosystems for community learning—but we’re looking to grow. This short trail will extend educational access into a different ecosystem and connect to the Natural Area’s pollinator meadow. We hope it will also add some variety to habitat access for bird watchers who visit the farm as a part of the Oregon Coast Birding Trail.

SUMMARY:Reflecting on Resilience - Exhibit Opening
DESCRIPTION:For 75 years\, stewardship in the TSF has taken many forms – from the daily labor of rebuilding a burned landscape to welcoming visitors into a living classroom. Reflecting on Resilience explores the intertwined histories of service\, restoration\, and public engagement that connect South Fork Forest Camp and the Tillamook Forest Center. Through stories\, artifacts\, and never before publicly displayed photos\, this exhibit invites reflection on how forests\, and our relationship to them\, change over time\, and how today’s stewardship will define the forests of the future.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST)\, and make a difference for the environment! COASST participants collect monthly data on beached carcasses of marine birds to establish the pattern of bird mortality on North Pacific beaches. Data collected helps address important marine conservation issues. No prior scientific experience is needed!\nBeach surveys are best when conducted in groups of 2 or more — so please come with a partner in mind or in tow! The training is free\, but we do ask for a $31 refundable survey kit deposit to take the materials home.

SUMMARY:Eelgrass: Ecology\, Research\, and Local Updates
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS is kicking off 2026 with a three-part event series\, “Producers of\nthe Bay!” Our first event of the series shines a spotlight on eelgrass\, a flowering marine plant\nthat acts as a nursery for the young fish and invertebrates that form the foundation of our local\nfood web.\nNetarts Bay stands out as one of the few bays in Oregon that still has healthy native eelgrass\nbeds. Eelgrass is impacted by a variety of human activities including boating\, dredging\,\nrecreational shellfish harvest\, some aquaculture harvesting techniques\, the introduction of\ninvasive species\, and nutrient runoff from land. Eelgrass responses to\, and recovery from\, these\nactivities vary widely\, highlighting the importance of local\, science-based approaches to\nsustaining ecosystem health while supporting the important industries and communities that\ndepend on a thriving bay. So how are scientists working to sustain this vital species throughout\nthe coast\, and how can we protect the healthy beds in Netarts?\nJoin us on Zoom to hear from Dr. Tony D’Andrea\, Project Director of ODFW’s Shellfish &\nEstuarine Assessment of Coastal Oregon (SEACOR). He’ll share insights from his work\nmonitoring local eelgrass health\, including recent surveys in neighboring Tillamook Bay.\nTune in on February 25th\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM\, to learn the latest on local eelgrass and stick\naround for a live Q&A at the end of the presentation. We’d love to see you there!\nVisit https://www.netartsbaywebs.org/events to learn more and register. The Zoom link will be\nshared after registration.\nQuestions or Cancellations? Contact info@netartsbaywebs.org\nConnect with the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS online!\nWebsite: www.netartsbaywebs.org\nSocial: @netartsbaywebs\nEmail: info@netartsbaywebs.org\nRead more about SEACOR: https://www.dfw.state.or.us/mrp/shellfish/Seacor/\nContact the SEACOR project via e-mail at: ODFW.SEACOR@odfw.oregon.gov

SUMMARY:Tillamook Main Library Storytime: Preschool
DESCRIPTION:Preschool storytime (PS) on Wed @ 10; developmentally appropriate for 3-5 yos; music\, stories\, interactive play and lots of laughs! In this class little begin to learn about a leader at the front of the room\, how to hold their wiggles\, listening and sitting still. When a child is transitioning from TT to PS my expectation is that they will sit for 5-10 minutes and then they might go play. I do not force them to sit still if they are not ready to. \nA couple of things about the children’s room that might set you at ease: \n\nThere is no expectation that it will be a quiet zone; kids are kids and they are allowed to act like themselves in the children’s room.\nOnly 2 hard and fast rules: No Running & No Screaming.\nIf your child needs a snack\, feed them!

SUMMARY:Let's Get Ready to Rock and Roll - Inspiration and Preparedness for Tillamook County
DESCRIPTION:The Cape Meares Emergency Volunteer Corps (CMEVC) and the newly formed Tillamook Emergency Volunteer Corps (TEVC) are gearing up for an energizing and educational morning as the Let’s Get Ready to Rock and Roll event arrives at the Tillamook County Library on February 21\, 2026\, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. County officials and representatives of CMEVC and TEVC will be available for questions during the Q & A session. CMEVC is the emergency preparedness arm of the Cape Meares Community Association (CMCA). \nFor those unable to attend in person\, send an email to capemearesca@gmail.com to request a ZOOM link and how to participate in the interactive events. Admission is FREE. Enter for a chance to win a “go-bag” ($125 value) filled with supplies that will help you survive the first 72 hours of emergencies like extended power outages and the long-anticipated 9.0 Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake. \nThe featured speaker\, Steve Eberlein\, will share his remarkable firsthand account of surviving the 9.1 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami (2004) while working for the Red Cross. His experience offers a powerful perspective on resilience\, preparedness\, and the strength people discover in moments of crisis. A native Oregonian\, Steve has delivered 200+ earthquake preparedness presentations\, including his 2018 TEDx presentation in Portland\, Oregon. Steve is the Resilience and Engagement Manager for Ethos Preparedness. \nSponsored by Governor Kotek’s Plan for a Resilient Oregon (PRO)\, CMEVC\, TEVC\, and the Tillamook County Library\, the program promises a blend of storytelling\, interactive events\, and community connection. CMCA is one of two nonprofits in Tillamook County and one of 53 community-based organizations whose work directly informs the Governor’s plan. The PRO will guide the development of her 2027-2029 budget and legislative funding in 2027 and beyond. TEVC focuses on emergency preparedness in the City of Tillamook and collaborates with CMEVC and other communities across Tillamook County through their membership in Tillamook County Civilian Corps Council (TC4)\, a grassroots council of communities\, agencies\, and organizations throughout Tillamook County.
