DESCRIPTION:Musical Storytime\, a hands-on activity for preschoolers\, will be \noffered twice\, at 10 a.m. February 6 in the McTavish Room at the Liberty \nTheatre\, and again at 10 a.m. February 10 at the North Tillamook Library in \nManzanita. \nThe free readings\, for children ages 3 to 5\, will feature live percussion \naccompaniment by North Oregon Coast Symphony musician Carol \nShepherd. This month’s story is “Tanka Tanka Skunk\,” by Steve Webb. It is \na tale of best friends\, an elephant and skunk\, who beat out the name of \ntheir various friends with drums. With colorful illustrations and repetitive \nrhythms preschoolers will love to participate in this fun story. \nAfter the reading\, children will be able to play a variety of percussion \ninstruments and learn about drums\, the tambourine\, and rhythm sticks as \nShepherd demonstrates her instruments. \nSimilar events are being planned monthly in partnership between \nThe North Oregon Coast Symphony\, North Tillamook Library and Astoria \nLibrary.
