SUMMARY:Auditions: How to Survive a Zombie Apocalpyse
DESCRIPTION:Think you’re ready for the end of the world? Better make sure…because auditions are coming for “How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse”\, a fast-paced\, audience-interactive comedy that turns survival tips into side-splitting chaos. \nDirected by Kelli McMellon\, this one-act play takes the form of a seminar led by a group of so-called “experts” teaching the public how to outwit\, outlast\, and outlive a zombie outbreak. But with each performance hilariously unraveling in its own unexpected way\, one thing is certain: no two shows are ever the same. \nAuditions will be held Saturday\, August 2nd and Sunday\, August 3rd from 1:00–2:30 p.m. at the Barn Community Theater. The production features four main roles\, all open to any gender\, and requires strong comedic timing and a willingness to improvise. \nRoles include: \n\nDr. Dale – The charismatic\, buzzword-loving leader of the seminar. Cool\, confident\, and fluent in improv\, Dr. Dale commands the room with TED Talk energy.\nJudy – The level-headed scientist of the team. Always trying (and often failing) to bring order to the madness.\nDonald – A hardcore survivalist who believes every conspiracy theory out there. He’s easily distracted\, especially by attractive audience members.\nTristan – Dr. Dale’s bewildered and childlike niece/nephew\, who never seems to understand what’s going on and constantly drifts off-topic with wide-eyed wonder.\n\nThe show also features three “audience plants” who participate in the fun\, so those interested in small but hilarious roles are encouraged to audition as well. \nNo experience is necessary\, but a willingness to play big\, think fast\, and interact with the audience is a must. \n“How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse” shows will run October 24-November 9. DESCRIPTION:Join Friends of Netarts Bay\, Watershed\, Estuary\, Beach and Sea (WEBS) and celebrate Huehca Omeyocan’s ninth year at Cape Lookout State Park on August 3rd! \nHuehca Omeyocan will be sharing art\, culture\, music\, and dance in a vibrant\, colorful\, generous\, and transcendental way to strengthen the connection with nature and bring communities together during this inspiring celebration . Huehca Omeyocan will be joined by Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS\, Oregon State Parks\, OSU Extension\, the Juntos Afuera Program\, and Oregon Shores for an inspiring day with opportunities to explore\, learn\, celebrate\, and act for the ocean. \nHuehca Omeyocan was founded in McMinnville Oregon in 2016 by artist\, drummer\, performer\, and cultural promoter Eduardo Cruz Torres Amictlan and his wife and main dancer of the group Maria Elena Cortes Duran Malinalmiquiz. Maria started dancing when she was only 12 years old\, and it has been a part of her life ever since. \nThe Mexica-Chichimeca or Aztec dance and music connect the natural world\, human body\, and spirit with everything that exists. It is a cosmic integration — a prayer in motion that delights the senses. Led by Maria Elena Cortes Duran\, dancers’ regalia vibrantly display colorful ancestral symbols and vivid feathers. At the Huehuetl drum\, Eduardo Cruz Torres sets the rhythm for the flight of ceramic flutes\, ocarinas\, and wind whistles\, while traditional Nahuatl rattles\, stones\, seeds\, and bones stir the atmosphere of each performance. \nThe movements and sounds of these spirited presentations mirror the energy that joins each of us with each other and the entire cosmos. With joyful generosity\, Huehca Omeyocan aims to inspire this transcendent connectivity in every community they touch. \nEnjoy the ceremony and various other educational and service activities on August 3rd. starting at 11:00 a.m. This is a full day event and often stretches beyond the advertised end time for the celebration. Starting mid-June\, Clackamas Community College President Dr. Tim Cook — an avid marathoner — will embark on a bold challenge to run to every community college in Oregon. That’s more than 1\,500 miles over 50 days\, averaging 32 miles per day.\n\nThe Running for Oregon Community College Students (ROCCS) campaign is a statewide awareness and fundraising initiative to highlight the challenges facing today’s students and to advocate for increased state funding for essential support services. Funds raised through ROCCS will be distributed directly to participating colleges to support students’ basic needs\, such as food\, housing\, childcare and transportation.\nCommunity college students represent some of the most vulnerable populations in the state.
